🐶 What is Potcake Rescue?
Potcake Rescue is a U.S.-based organization working closely with Bahamian and U.S. shelters, including our primary partner Abaco Shelter, to rescue, care for, and find loving homes for Potcakes. These village dogs — native to The Bahamas — are known for their loyalty, resilience, and deep connection to island life. They are called ROYAL BAHAMIAN POTCAKES. 👑
Proceeds from this project directly fund rescue operations, spay/neuter clinics, medical care, shelter support, education, and adoption efforts — helping both the animals and the communities that care for them.
🎨 Why NFTs (digital collectibles)?
We chose to enter Web3 for two simple reasons:
1️⃣ To create sustainable, transparent funding for rescue work, without relying solely on one-time donations.
2️⃣ To introduce Bahamian culture and art to new audiences worldwide, celebrating the islands while building a supportive community.
Each Potcake NFT is part of a limited collection of 2,420 unique digital collectibles, featuring generative artwork inspired by the character and spirit of the Potcakes themselves, captured so well by lead artist, Stevie Burrows. From Pirate Potcakes to Junkanoo Potcakes, these designs honor both the animals and the Bahamian culture they represent.

Our Story – How Potcake Rescue Began
King Willis the Sweetest of The Bahamas
Pirate Potcake Sonny, our OG from the TCI
Shannon, Zoe, and Mat
My wife and I were on an island in the Caribbean Sea when we saw a familiar sight: stray dogs roaming in the heat. One in particular was laying motionless on a gravel road. We stopped to check on him and long story short, helped him recover and brought him to Missouri as a foster placement. With two cats at home, we weren’t sure how it would go—but he flourished, and he was named Sonny. A year later, we adopted Willie, another Potcake rescued from The Mud, a Haitian village on Great Abaco, Bahamas destroyed by Hurricane Dorian. Our experiences led us to work directly with Abaco Shelter and to support about 20 strategic partners—thus, Potcake Rescue was born.
Shooting the Potcake Rescue short film for Samsung first led us to Great Abaco Island, which became a turning point. Now based on the Space Coast of Florida, we plan to eventually move our family to The Abacos and immerse ourselves in the island life, the people, and—of course—the dogs.
