From Heartache to Home: Bianca’s Journey

When Bianca was first found on Abaco, she was in rough shape—injured, vulnerable, and far too young to face such hardship. But thanks to the compassionate team at Abaco Shelter, she was given immediate care, comfort, and a second chance.

Among the many visitors who came through the shelter’s doors that summer was a family vacationing from Florida. The moment they met Bianca, something clicked. Still too young to travel, she remained behind when they returned home—but she never left their hearts.

Soon after, Bianca was transferred to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay with the help of a generous volunteer where her medical needs could be addressed. Her injury was severe, and the only option was to amputate her leg. Thanks to the expert team at HSTB, the surgery went smoothly and her recovery was nothing short of miraculous. Bianca adapted quickly—her spirit unshaken and her tail still wagging.

And then came the moment we’d all been waiting for: Bianca was adopted by the same family who fell in love with her on Abaco. Her journey had come full circle—from an injured island pup to a beloved family member with a bright future.

We’re so grateful to Abaco Shelter for saving her, to Humane Society of Tampa Bay for giving her the medical care she needed, and to her incredible adoptive family for seeing her worth from the start.

Bianca may have lost a leg, but she gained the world. And she reminds us why rescue matters—every effort, every donation, every shared story can help turn heartbreak into healing.
