Master Culmer
Master Culmer is a Bahamian artist whose work reflects the beauty, truth, and soul of the islands. Born in Nassau and raised in Abaco, he developed his craft through The National Art & Craft Program and mentorship under Maxwell Taylor, gaining recognition for his signature dry-brush technique and his devotion to natural tones.
His painting “The Blues” is inspired by the crystal-clear Bahamian waters and the liberty and longevity embodied by turtles. The piece evokes peace and tranquility while honoring the warmth of Bahamian people, culture, and climate. Known for weaving shades of blue—his favorite color—into every creation, Culmer captures both realism and memory, inviting viewers to reflect on “the good ole days.”
Deeply connected to his roots, Culmer supports Potcake Rescue as a way to give back, noting that his first dog was a Potcake. Through his art, he hopes the world will not only appreciate Bahamian culture, tradition, and history, but also understand the timeless beauty of island life.
